Saturday was a day about community support, and NewsChannel 7 was there to show you how locals came together for the Captain Ron Spriggs Fish Fry at the Blue Top Waffle Shop.

First it was the Breast Cancer Awareness walk, and now we’re here at the Blue Top Waffle Shop and it’s all about Captain Ron. Isn’t that right folks? (crown cheering) It’s all about food, fellowship, and community support.

At four o’clock people began walking through the door of the Blue Top Waffle Shop for two things: to eat fresh Amberjack, Grouper, Snapper, French fries, and homemade Hushpuppies; but more importantly, to show support for Captain Ron Spriggs. And joining me is my main man, Master hushpuppy chef and personal friend of Captain Ron, Philip Scarborough. You know Philip, I think I’ve had four, maybe five of these hushpuppies. Tell me, what’s your secret? “You know there really is no secret, they are made with cornmeal, and it’s really how you cook them. You can’t undercook them because they will be too mushy, you have to cook them just right.”

Philip, tell me how the turnout was today, and tell me a little more about Captain Ron. “Captain Ron Spriggs is a dear friend of mine, captain ron1 he’s, you could say part of the family, and he currently has inoperable brain tumors and we’re just trying to raise money for his family to pay for medical bills.”

Captain Ron is a Scuba Instructor and a Boat Captain; he’s made a huge impact on the community here in the Panhandle. He needs your help more than ever.

For those of you who were unable to make it to the Fish Fry, you can always stop by the Blue Top Waffle Shop and drop off a donation to benefit the Captain Ron Spriggs Foundation. Next month is National Brain Tumor awareness month; stay tuned for more events in the community to help out Captain Ron.

Watch: Sky Cobras Precision Flight Demonstration Team Get Ready For Weekend

Among the many performers at the much anticipated air show this weekend at Tyndall Air Force Base is the Sky Cobras Precision Flight Demonstration Team.

News Channel Seven’s Nicole Morten took a ride in the AH1-F Cobra Helicopter just hours before this weather moved in!

The team consists of a dedicated group of veteran pilots who perform at events around the country in support of our country’s military and veterans.

LTC J.R. “Skip” Lam has been flying for 40 years and says this show is something you don’t want to miss.

“We’re very excited to bring the AH1 attack helicopter Cobra back to Panama City,” said Lam. We’ve been here before with the team and we really enjoy coming back. This team is unique and this cobra helicopter was born and bred in Vietnam. It’s served honorably for more than 20 years and silently retired from the U.S Army in 2001.”

The Sky Soldiers is composed of an elite group of decorated, veteran military aviators and ground support personnel who have served their country. Many have combat experience from Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

According to Lee Maynard, Executive VP of the Cobra Team, “The Sky Soldiers are one of the most flight-experienced of the military demonstration teams. Team Pilots have accumulated over 85,000 flight hours in military aircraft, 7000 combat flight hours, 10 distinguished Flying Crosses, 9 Bronze Stars, and 168 Air Medals.”

The Sky Soldiers Precision Flight Demonstration Team was founded in 2006 as one of three aerial demonstration programs that make up the performing arm of the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation.

Also performing at the Gulf Coast Salute Air Show is the U.S. Army Golden Knights and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

Raw Footage-Convicted Felons Stolen and Abandoned Vehicle at Blinn College in College Station

This was shot on June 30, 2008.
This is uncut and Raw footage of a convicted Felon’s and inmates’ (The Santa Claus Robber) abandoned and stolen vehicle that he left in the Blinn Parking lot in College Station. I shot this video with my AipTek 1080 HD camera for only $150. Within 17 minutes I had shot video, drove back to the station, FTP’d the RAW onto the server at KBTX and CUT and wrote a VO that aired at stations across Texas as breaking news. It was my 3rd week as an intern….

It’s a little shaky, but do-able, especially for breaking news situations like this one.

Raw: The aftermath of storms in the Wixon Valley

Raw footage with my AipTek 1080 HD cam. This is the aftermath of what some called a ‘mini tornado.’ Only a select few homes were damaged from this storm, or tornado, or high winds (whatever it may have been), but either way, you don’t see this very often.
