My story

My name is Nicole Morten, I grew up in Katy, Texas, a suburb just a hop, skip and jump away from Houston. I graduated from the University of North Texas in August 2008 with a bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism.

I am a Feature Reporter, Internet Anchor / Producer and Webmaster at WJHG-TV, an NBC affiliate in Panama City Beach, Florida. I began my stint at WJHG-TV in October 2008 as the very first Web Anchor and Web Producer. Monday through Friday I deliver quick updates on WJHG.com during NewsChannel 7’s early morning web cast.

Don’t forget to tune in every Thursday, live at 5, to catch my weekly franchise: “Nicole Wants to Know.” As a feature reporter, I deliver an inquisitive look at the many unique and interesting jobs around the Panhandle. From garbage collector to cake decorator, I am not afraid to get my hands dirty. So, if you think you’ve got an interesting job, send me an email at: nicole.morten@wjhg.com, and who knows, your story could be featured on the next “Nicole Wants to Know.”

Before beginning my career as a journalist, I interned at KBTX-TV in Bryan/College Station, Texas as a Mobile Journalist, or MoJo. When I’m not working, you can find me exploring the beautiful Emerald Coast with my fiance Mathew, thrift-store shopping, running, cooking, and playing with my Chihuahua’s: Hurley, Deisle and Tex.
